About

A modern reading of ancient strategy.

Chanakyaverse exists because the texts that shaped Indian thought deserve a better home than ad-stuffed apps with 2015 UIs.

What we built

The complete canonical Chanakya Niti, 339 verses across 17 chapters, in Devanagari with IAST transliteration. The full Arthashastra by Kautilya, 15 books and ~150 chapters, parsed from R. Shamasastry's 1915 public-domain English translation. And five strategic frameworks from the Arthashastra, presented as decision tools you can actually run on your own life.

Every verse comes paired with a modern reading, written carefully by editors who care about the difference between “here is what the verse says” and “here is what you should actually do about it on a Tuesday.”

Why we built it

There are dozens of Chanakya Niti apps on the Play Store. We installed all of them. They are uniformly grim: clip-art icons, single-language text dumps, banner ads every three taps, no audio, no design care, no editorial work.

Meanwhile the texts themselves are some of the most quoted, taught, and referenced works in Indian civilisation. They deserve a quality publishing house treatment, the kind that traditional Indian publishers gave to their hardbound editions.

Design principles

  • Beauty is not optional. The reading experience matters as much as the words.
  • Hindi is a first class language, not an afterthought. Every screen, every translation, every share card.
  • Modern application beats abstract reverence. The wisdom is meant to change Tuesday decisions, not just sit on a shelf.
  • No dark patterns. No streak guilt, no spam notifications, no up-sell modals every other tap. Free forever for the core corpus.
  • Privacy by default. Your reflections are yours. No tracking pixels, no selling of data.

Made in India

Built in India for an audience that grew up hearing these verses at the dinner table, and for anyone curious about a 2,400 year old strategic tradition. Editorial Hindi by native speakers. Sanskrit pronunciation by Sanskrit scholars.
